Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal: Shit Straight Girls Say to Lesbians

I am so excited that Alison Bechdel’s new book is coming out this year but 2012 is turning out to be a banner year for lesbian lit as Jeannette Winterson also has a new book coming out soon:

Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? (Grove Press, March 6, 2012)

We read Written on the Body for book club but my favorite is still the first Winterson I ever read, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. That was a fictionalized memoir of her childhood and apparently this is the non-fiction version, especially explicit about the abuse she suffered from her mom and the religious group the family belonged to, including, no kidding, an exorcism. This promises to be quite a tour de force.

Otherwise, I stumbled upon this and it is freakin’ hilarious–and too true! Enjoy.
